ZenoStore.com – December update
Here we are again with another update (very brief this time) on what’s been happening here at ZenoStore.
Firstly, we’ve been testing out the site fully, we have brought in an outside company to do the testing for us, and we are probably around 20% complete. There are many small things which need to be tweaked and perfected, so the QA and development team have been working hard at this. It’s all with the aim to bring the smoothest shopping experience to you, the end user.
Besides that, we have been processing orders as per normal, and working with our SEO company, promoting the site. This will take months to do fully, however we are making great progress. We want to work towards around 1000 unique visitors per day, so there’s quite a lot of work to do. Watch this space!

As I said, this blog post was always going to be brief, not too much exciting happening here. We’re slowly progressing, If you have any thoughts or suggestions, then please raise an issue in the feedback forum.
Thanks for reading!

Tweaking and fine-tuning an ecommerce giant. November update
Hello everyone, as you can see we haven’t blogged for a while. This has been mainly due to the fact we’ve been tied up working hard on all aspects of the site. Here’s an overview of what’s been happening:
- Database Engine: Our IT team has been working double-time to increase the capabilities and functions of our current database. We now have over 5900 products managed on the system, updated 3 times a day. Our data is synced automatically across the leading 6 price comparison sites, at least once per day. This has been a big task (a SQL marvel!), but now we feel we’re happy with the way it’s working.
- Design/Development tweaks: Whilst our DBA has been hard at work revising the database functions, the development team have been tidying up the frontend – trying to make the end-user experience as seamless as possible. We’ve added the uservoice “Feedback” function, so if you have any thoughts about the site – you can let us know with ease. Other than that, we’ve made small design changes and polished the interface somewhat.
- SEO and Marketing: Now we’re completely satisfied with the URL strings and DB functions, a more comprehensive SEO package is now underway. Our sister company (zenoSEO.com) is taking on all of this work, and we’re looking forward to optimising the site fully.

This is all for today’s update – we’ll post our progress again shortly. From now on we’ll keep the blog updated at least twice weekly. Please subscribe if you want to follow the journey. You can also follow us on Twitter!
All the best,

HTC Hero Reviews Roundup & Summary – Google Android Smartphone. iPhone contender? August 2009
A lot has been talked about the release of this handset, billed as a serious contender to the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G. Most people have been excited to some degree by the prospect of this phone overtaking the iPhone. We’re here to summarise what the world is saying, allowing you to make your own mind up.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the HTC product demonstration – see what the manufacturers have to say.
The large, clear screen, GPS capabilities, well acclaimed Android OS and digital compass are nice features. The 5.0 megapixel camera is quite handy too, boasting an auto-focus function. The audio player supports a host of formats, including windows media (up to version 9), AAC, MP3, MP2 and a few others.

Being HTCs flagship device, it’s obvious they have placed it up against the Iphone 3GS, so let’s take a look at a detailed video comparison of both devices.
Taking into account what the above videos have said, and the many (and there are a lot) reviews on the internet, this is the general consensus:
Pros
-Support for Flash (fullscreen too)
-Expandable memory (MicroSDHC up to 16GB)
-HTC “Sense” UI – Nice
-Not restricted to audio formats it can play
-Majority of apps are free!
-Runs lovely with Social Networks
-Massively customizable
-MS Exchange Integration
-Highly customizable
Cons
-Slow performance on old Architecture
-Thus, sometimes laggy/annoying interface
-Slow to take photos
-(Poor hardware choice – OS outdates the hardware)

Polaroid Pogo Camera Printer Review & Video Roundup. August 2009
Here at ZenoStore, occasionally we become fascinated by certain new items that come into stock. The Polaroid Pogo Printer is certainly one of those.

Polaroid describe it as “a pocket-sized, inkless digital printer that produces full-color photos wirelessly from cell phones and via PictBridge from digital cameras”. First of it’s kind? We’re not sure – certainly one of a kind though!

Sleekly designed, available in black, red or pink – with cases to match, the item is a certainly good on the eye. We stumbled upon this demonstrative video, detailing the workings of this unique device.
This hands-on video (all be it in French) gives us a good idea of the practicalities on daily life.
To run the device, you will require special Polaroid Photo Paper (comes in 70 sheets). The device prints with Zink (or Zeno Ink). More information about how this patented “Zink” technology works can be seen below.

Zink!
The device is priced well at £49.95 here at ZenoStore.com – available in both black and pink. Red is coming soon. This product would make a great gift, and could be the catalyst for many similar products in the future. It’s certainly an interesting proposition, being able to Bluetooth photos and print them instantly. Same with PictBridge.

We hope you enjoyed this review! Please share this page if you enjoyed the content.

Top Five Compact Consumer Digital Cameras. August 2009
2009 has seen a number of impressive consumer digital cameras hit the market. None more so than the five we have selected below. Ranging in price and features, it’s no wonder why these have been at the right end of top sellers lists throughout the year. Let’s waste no time in getting to know them:
Panasonic Lumix TZ-7

This camera almost needs no introduction, flying off the shelves at every camera and electrical shop. Stunning Image quality all round, HD movies, sharp focus and a good image stabilizer. The lumix 12x optical zoom is a real winner, and has produced stunning results in the labs. 27 scene modes will keep you busy, however the auto mode is a solid option. 10.1 MP Panasonic Lumix TZ-7 is a strong contender and will be here for a while. Serious consideration @ £280.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS15

Similar to the TZ-7, this 12 megapixel offering boasts a smaller, slicker frame – making it extremely portable. Picture quality, again is stunning – something we have come to expect from the Panasonics. There have been some complaints about small buttons, generally OK unless you have large fingers. The lack of HD is also worth noting. Not a bad deal for £149.9
Canon IXUS 100 IS
The first thing you’ll notice about this camera, its good looks. Undoubtedly the sexiest camera we’ve seen this year – and not too bad inside. Tiny dimensions and rounded corners allow it to slip into the picket. Couple this with good picture quality, quick responsiveness and ease-of-use, you can see why this has been selling well. Available in silver, red, black and gold. There is no wide-angle lens, and in tests the body has scratched and marked easily.
Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T900
Another attractive camera here, excellent build quality and a nice polished finish. Feels durable, typical of Sony. Can record high quality HD videos, although maybe you’d expect more at such a highly priced camera. The T900 is by far the most expensive out of these cameras, and some users have reported less than amazing image quality. Opinion seems to be mixed about the sliding method of opening, decide for yourself! Expensive, but still a top notch 12 mp digital camera.
Samsung ES15
The ES15 represents the budget choice in our shortlist. This 10 mp digital camera represents a great bargain at only £68.96. Plenty of options, great quality pictures and an attractive design make it a worthwhile consideration. It’s easy to use and ideal for a beginner. Definitely worth a shout!
